The Residents Association (RA) was formed in May 2011. Its aim is to represent the views of the residents of Old Sarum in areas of local government, buildings and parish issues.
There is a committee of up to twelve people appointed (or co-opted) at the annual meeting in the summer. The association has responded to planning applications made by Persimmon, input into the design of the community centre as it was built, the local centre (shop) and more recently the proposal to build more flats instead of providing a community facility in the form of a doctor’s surgery.
The RA also take on board the frustrations of residents to do with parking, roads, dog fouling etc. and if necessary takes these issues to the Parish Council. It relies entirely on volunteers and tries to be un-biased if there is a variety of views. As already demonstrated the RA has some sway as it is able to be a conduit between various groups.
